PlastiCert President and Owner Craig Porter kicks off winter swimming and diving championship season.

Lewiston, MN February 24, 2015 – PlastiCert, a 34 year veteran of innovative and quality plastic injection molding design and manufacturing services, celebrates amateur athleticism, and encourages staff to embrace that part of our mission statement that calls for “a recognized responsibility to the community around us”.

Craig W. Porter, PlastiCert’s President and Owner has kicked off his “Championship Season” cycle where he will officiate numerous Swimming & Diving Championships after having officiated numerous evening dual meets throughout the season.

Last weekend, Porter started his run by sitting in and substitute coaching the Winona Senior High School springboard divers at their Big 9 Conference Championships. “Their coach also oversees the local college diving program and was tied up with them,” commented Porter. “It was a chance to help out, sitting in on practice the last week to get familiar with their dive lists, and then accompanying them to the meet on Friday. The boys ended up placing 4th, 10th, 11th, and 23rd out of 29 divers from12 teams so they did really well. I was just happy to be able to step in and help them stay focused on the task at hand!”

From there Porter drove to the University of Minnesota to participate in officiating The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Swimming & Diving Championships. The 13 members of the MIAC are all private undergraduate colleges in Minnesota. The MIAC is recognized as one of the toughest NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletic conferences in the country.

This weekend he will be on deck for the Minnesota Boys High School Section 1AA Swimming & Diving Championships. Athletes from 10 different high schools on 7 teams will be competing to earn a berth at the State Championships the following week.

Porter will also be there the following week, volunteering at all 3 days of the 2014 MSHSL Boy’s Swimming & Diving Championships at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.

“Having been a springboard diver in high school and college was influential in becoming who I am,” remarked Porter. “I enjoy giving back to the sport that helped me, as well as take the opportunity to remove myself from the plant. Officiating at this level helps to re-energize me. The competition is so stimulating I find myself smiling while I am officiating on deck. It definitely takes my mind off the trappings of the plant and office.”

PlastiCert encourages all its co-workers to find something they are passionate about and accommodates their getting involved. PlastiCert also has baseball and basketball coaches as well as volunteers at other youth activities and accommodates their scheduling needs to fulfill those volunteer responsibilities.
