Lewiston, MN June 6, 2019 – PlastiCert, a veteran of innovative and quality plastic injection molding design and manufacturing services for nearly 40 years, announces that President & Owner Craig Porter participated on a panel convened by Enterprise Minnesota.

On Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at the Owatonna Country Club, PlastiCert President & Owner Craig Porter was a panel member at an Enterprise Minnesota event announcing the results of their 11th Annual State of Manufacturing survey.

Known to Enterprise Minnesota through his participation on one of their business peer councils, Porter was one of four manufacturing industry experts giving their insight and thoughts on the state of manufacturing in Minnesota.

The event saw over 100 manufacturing executives, service providers and educators, hear Bob Kill, CEO of Enterprise Minnesota discuss highlights of the survey’s results and then question the panel on manufacturing’s perspective on numerous topics like:

  • Explaining the disparity between the high levels of confidence executives expressed about their company yet they also revealed more and more concern about America’s economy.
  • Manufacturers cited the still-rising costs of providing health insurance as their top concern, as they have for each of the 11 years of this survey, but when asked to name the top concern that might endanger future growth, they said the worker shortage. Does this mean they consider health care now as simply the cost of doing business—beyond their control?
  • Where does productivity-by-training fit into the solution? The survey shows executives endorse formal training, but admit they invest very little in it. Is that common across your network of manufacturers?
  • Fully half of the executives surveyed admitted they don’t operate their companies from a formal strategic plan. How could this be? What are they missing out on?
