HOPE is, well, ……… HOPE, sort of.

While watching the news, a component of the story talked about a HOPE that things were getting better. It must have been a general news show, rather than a business news show. Mainly because I think HOPE, in the personal world, is different than HOPE in the business world.

HOPE, in the personal world is an emotion, a feeling that things will get better, because fundamentally your core belief is that the future WILL be better than the present. There are certainly obstacles, but you have some control or say in how things unfold. In the end, you feel things will turn out all right.

HOPE in the business world, is more of a cognitive state tied to a goal setting world. Where putting in place plans, steps, equipment, people, will get you from where you are to where you want to be. You must HOPE that those factors you are counting on will meet or exceed your expectations. When they do, you will arrive at your desired outcome. In the business world, HOPE is based on real-world experience, accumulated knowledge and both tangible and intangible data, which results in trust. Trust in your having HOPE for a positive outcome.

So, in an environment such as we are, with COVID-19 making radical alterations to our business operations, interruptions to our revenue and cash flows, threatening the safety of our coworkers and friends, we HOPE that the steps we are taking will result in a positive outcome. Now just as any other disruption or bump in the road we experience as business people. The idea being that if you are not growing, you are dying. If you are failing to plan, you are planning to fail.

With that in mind, PlastiCert’s HOPE, is that following our capital improvement plan and acquiring another new injection press, as well as pursuing the acquisition of our building (currently leased) and building an addition, we are making a calculated and determined course of action based on our experience and knowledge, assessed data, and trust, that we will handle whatever twists occur as we seek a path out of this current situation in a better and improved position.

That’s PlastiCert’s HOPE, what is yours?
