March madness indeed!
It is March so odds are if your location is anything like here in Minnesota, there is a championship of some kind going on somewhere that you can take in. Locally, the MN State High School Girls Basketball Tournament is taking place in Minneapolis. On the National scene also in Minneapolis is the NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships. Like many other college sports, the competitor field contains numerous Olympians like Missy Franklin, Breeja Larson, and Elizabeth Beisel. This presents a great chance to see some Olympic caliber swimming if you live in the Twin Cities. In neighboring St. Paul is the Big 10 Conference Men’s Hockey Championships. The NCAA Div I Wrestling Championships are taking place in Oklahoma City, The Women’s Hockey Frozen Four takes place in Hamden Connecticut (which includes Minnesota & Wisconsin as two of the four), the NCAA Div III Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships is going on in Indianapolis, and OF COURSE the NCAA Div I Men’s Basketball March Madness has started. While you can see all games on television, those of you in Buffalo, Milwaukee, Orlando, Spokane, Raleigh, San Antonio, San Diego, AND St. Louis get out and watch a game!
Nothing beats the live show when you talk high school or college athletics. The energy and enthusiasm, the drama and excitement can put a renewed spring in your step. I always find it refreshing and reminds me of the basic concept of investment of effort and the realization of the reward, setting goals and achieving them, and celebrating the achievement of those goals!
So look around, somewhere around you is some March Madness. I suggest you take it in, get the blood flowing a little bit, and get some inspiration. Who doesn’t need that once in a while!
