PlastiCert acquires new injection molding press
Lewiston, MN November 27, 2018 – PlastiCert, a 37 year veteran of innovative and quality plastic injection molding design and manufacturing services, acquired a new 90 ton press to increase efficiency and better service customers.
PlastiCert has acquired a Milacron MTs90 Injection molding press and is in the process of qualifying its use in production. Acquired directly from Milacron, the unit meets PlastiCert’s requirements for reliability, serviceability, and flexibility to meet an array of customer and PlastiCert needs. “It was part of our capital improvement plan to do this. While many of our competitors would consider our present 90 ton press usable, we prefer to keep our equipment list fresh. There is a risk management aspect to our plan,” remarked PlastiCert President and Owner Craig Porter. “This press will allow us to reliability cover our customers’ requirements and improve an already efficient production floor.”
PlastiCert emphasized that the acquisition was a planned addition, part of a $1,000,000 capital improvement plan being implemented over two years. “To date we have committed over $300,000 dollars, previously adding a new 55 ton injection molding press and a new machining center in the mold shop. Now this injection molding press, and an additional custom coil winder scheduled for December that we use for a value added assembly line dedicated to one of our customers”, remarked Porter. Coordinating additional injection molding presses and accessory equipment acquisitions with a 7,500 foot expansion of the plant will allow for a number of efficiency and economy projects to take place he noted. “Since acquiring the company, my plan was to get operations squared away and improve our financials. Having accomplished those goals, it is time to take action that reinforces our reputation and position as a highly capable mold design, mold build and molder of engineered composites components for small and medium volume programs”, Porter exclaimed.
PlastiCert, founded in 1981, is a privately held corporation with headquarters and manufacturing in Lewiston Minnesota.
