PlastiCert LogoLewiston, MN June 21, 2018 – PlastiCert, a 37 year veteran of innovative and quality plastic injection molding design and manufacturing services, reports it has taken delivery of a new machining center for use in its Mold Design and Build Center.

PlastiCert recently took delivery of a HURCO VM20i 3-axis machining center. The VM20i is hailed as a highly efficient unit with a small footprint yet large work cube. It is highly versatile and adept at both prototype and small volume jobs as well as the occasional repetitive job. In PlastiCert’s case, the VM20i will be integral to its mold build function. It will machine both graphite and steel. “With the new features this unit has, combined with the larger bed size we chose, we’ll be much more productive. The increased capability will allow for even more complex mold designs than we have engineered to date”, commented PlastiCert mold designer and Tooling Manager Dean Rupprecht.

PlastiCert emphasized that the acquisition was a planned addition, part of a one million dollar capital improvement plan being implemented over the new two years. “To date we have spent around a quarter million dollars, adding a new 55 ton injection molding press, this machining center, and an additional custom coil winder that we use for a value added assembly line dedicated to one of our customers”, remarked Craig Porter, President and Owner of PlastiCert. Coordinating additional injection molding presses and accessory equipment acquisitions with a 7.500 foot expansion of the plant will allow for a number of efficiency and economy projects to take place he noted. “Since acquiring the company, my plan was to get operations squared away and improve our financials. Having accomplished those goals, it is time to take action that reinforces our reputation and position as a highly capable mold design, mold build and molder of engineered composites components for small and medium volume programs”, Porter exclaimed.

PlastiCert, founded in 1981, is a privately held corporation with headquarters and manufacturing in Lewiston Minnesota. Initially a custom molder targeted at the electronics industry, today PlastiCert is a one-stop shop for OEMs desiring small and medium volumes for telecom, industrial, computer, avionics, medical markets and more. PlastiCert provides both mold development/build and custom plastic injection molding; including insert molding and over molding. Also available are a compliment of value add capabilities including decorating and electro-mechanical assembly.
