PlastiCert LogoLewiston, MN August 7, 2014 – PlastiCert, a 33 year veteran of innovative and quality plastic injection molding design and manufacturing services, announced to its staff an expansion of the benefit package related to holidays, vacation and sick time.

At PlastiCert’s August all-coworker monthly meeting, Bob Geesey Director of Finance and Human Resources made an announcement. He informed the team that effective January 1, 2015 there will be additions to the holiday, vacation and sick time components of the benefit package.

  • The previous allotment of 8 holidays, (6 fixed dates and 2 floating holidays) would be augmented to 9 fixed dates (adding the Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve) plus one additional floating holiday for a total of 10 holidays a year.
  • Previously, non-exempt staff accrued only one week of vacation during their first year of employment. That rate of accrual will be increased to a two week a year rate.
  • Lastly, on the first day of each year, all non-exempt staff will be credited with 3 sick days to be used through the year.

“PlastiCert’s time off package had been this way for some time and needed to catch up with the times,” commented Craig Porter President and Owner. “In the next wave of internal assessment after our 2013 Sloan Excellence in Business award, I decided that life is getting more complex not less. Our co-workers need more time to deal with the ins and outs of managing their families. Certainly Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve are not times that workers should be in the plant, they should be with family and friends. These changes reflect those types of values.”
