PlastiCert LogoLewiston, MN March 3, 2014 – PlastiCert, a 33 year veteran of innovative and quality plastic injection molding design and manufacturing services, was requested by the Minnesota Department of Education to attend a recognition ceremony.

On Monday March 3, PlastiCert President & Owner Craig Porter traveled to the Minnesota Department of Education for the Minnesota ACT College and Career Readiness Recognition Ceremony. The ACT College and Career Readiness Campaign is an annual campaign in which ACT works with top state officials to celebrate achievement and create awareness around the goal of college and career readiness for all. Eight states are partnering with ACT in 2014. One component of the campaign is to recognize—across the education and workforce continuum—exemplary college and career readiness efforts by high school students, high schools, community colleges, and employers. Students were nominated for a Readiness Award, High Schools for a College and Career Transition Award, Community Colleges for a College Career Preparedness Award and Employers for a Workplace Success Award. In the employer category, ACT worked with Minnesota state representatives to assess potential nominee businesses from throughout Minnesota and arrived at five business organizations that embodied the spirit of the Workplace Success Award.

While not selected as the Minnesota state winner, Porter was honored to be a Minnesota Workplace Success Award nominee. “As an outstate Minnesota small manufacturer with limited resources, one of the most precious commodities we have to help with a situation is our time,” he remarked. “PlastiCert takes its commitment to the local economy very seriously. Helping guide our secondary educational training opportunities benefits not just PlastiCert but all businesses in the region. To be one of the five companies nominated within the entire state of Minnesota says a great deal about that commitment.”

The award winner will be reviewed by ACT and a national selection committee to select a national award recipient among all participating states. National award recipients will be announced at ACT’s National Gala on College and Career Readiness in Washington, D.C. on June 3, 2014.
