PlastiCert spends December cranking out expedited molds and samples
Lewiston, MN January 2, 2013 – PlastiCert, a 31 year veteran of innovative and quality plastic injection molding design and manufacturing services, received a request from a long time customer to help them have samples for a January trade show.
The PlastiCert Mold Design and Build group had been talking with the customer’s Design Engineering since mid-summer. After providing input on design for mold optimization and manufacturability, suddenly after Thanksgiving, the customer asked, “How fast can you get us parts”? Consisting of a 6 mold package, PlastiCert dove in and rendered some first samples before the holidays. “Having been working with them and helping their design progress was a significant contributor to our customer’s success”, commented President & Owner Craig Porter. “Our guys could hit the floor running thanks to how much they knew from working with the customer. There were virtually no unknowns and ended up helping to facilitate our committing to such an aggressive schedule”. “The biggest coup wasn’t the timeline, it was that the two largest molds were an over-mold pair, mating Polycarbonate and Polypropylene. “The resin supplier said that it hadn’t been done before and was skeptical that we could do it, said Ben Ninas, Director of Customer Advancement. “I guess we showed the supplier what was possible and the customer is thrilled!”
PlastiCert is a proponent of early design collaboration. Part designers working with PlastiCert is a major time and money saver. In the case of PlastiCert, where both mold design/build and subsequent production molding are under one roof, the gains are even more evident. “Being a total solutions provider, there are fewer contact points, more concentrated communication, and better coordination. We eliminate the ‘throw it over the wall syndrome’ as well as give the customer one single focal point” said Porter.
