Ranking states for business
I was recently asked to participate in voting for the Best and Worst States for Business. The votes would result in a list ranking those states as such.
The term “BUSINESS” can be defined narrowly or quite widely.
Webster defines BUSINESS as a usually commercial or mercantile activity engaged in as a means of livelihood, and a commercial or sometimes an industrial enterprise. They define it as a noun.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, BUSINESS is the practice of making one’s living or making money by producing or buying and selling products (such as goods and services). Pretty much a verb in this definition.
The Webster definition goes on to also say BUSINESS is dealings or transactions especially of an economic nature.
Which is where the questions in the aforementioned ranking was going, ranking states based on the act of business dealings and transactions. Which I think is a little like asking the question in a manner that solicits the answer you want. Meaning focus on dollars, regulation, taxes, profits.
We at PlastiCert take “BUSINESS” to mean a great deal more than that, as do others ( Like US News & World Reports and CNBC the Finance channel). Factoring more than just money and taxes, like workforce, education, innovation, infrastructure.
I would add one more, FUN.
Here in Minnesota, we are going to achieve a first this week. It is February, and we are going to be playing golf AND going ice fishing in the same week (without leaving the state).
Now if that does not get you to the top of the ranking of places to do business, I do not know what will!
PlastiCert is quite proud to call Minnesota home. PlastiCert was founded and incorporated in Pennsylvania. PlastiCert expanded into Minnesota in 2002 and began to grow while the PA facility continued to regress. By the recession of 2008 we needed to close the PA facility. The bulk of their remaining business transferred to the Minnesota plant, and we subsequently changed our incorporation from Pennsylvania TO Minnesota. We dd not need to, we could have found a registered agent to manage our incorporated state affairs. We chose to change our incorporation to Minnesota because we LOVE Minnesota. For the reason stated earlier and a whole lot more.
So if you want to do business with a TOP RANKED injection molder, in a TOP RANKED STATE with the give us a call at PlastiCert.
We might always be having fun, but we will be here to answer your call and help you look good at what you do!
