Help me help them!
If you read our newsletters and my blog, you know I am a big proponent of being involved in my local schools and their curriculum.
The local high school principal reached out to me to share a questionnaire he has created. He wants to get a specific set of essential outcomes for our school – the basic skills a kid should be able to handle upon graduation. Their departments each have these – but they are specific to their own content area. He would like to have some work place specific skills that business people expect kids to be able to handle and are stressed in each of their classes. He would like local employers’ input on this process.
I would appreciate if you follow the link to the survey he has set up.
Thank you in advance for providing business guidance to what is happening in our high schools!

Directions are as follows:
Please go through the list and check the 7 skills you believe most important to a person entering your professional arena. While I understand that all of these are very important skills, and we will continue to touch on all of them within our curriculum, I believe that as a school we could do some amazing things if we ensured that certain specific skills were a focus of our curriculum and were utilized in every classroom within our school. In this way, we could ensure that kids who left our building had mastered at least the most important workplace skills; while still having experience in the others, as we do now.
At the end you will find a place to add other skills that I may have missed and a comment area. Please be sure to add anything that you believe should be on the list.
