PlastiCert encourages our coworkers to get involved and participate, volunteer, make a difference in the community. As an employer, we try to do what we can to accommodate their volunteerism and leadership contributions to our community.

Groups that PlastiCert routinely assists, is involved in, provides volunteer hours to, include:

Lewiston Area Chamber of Commerce – We sit on the board regularly and help arrange speakers that are beneficial to the Lewiston business community.

Winona Area Chamber of Commerce – Having served on the Board and Executive Board, we routinely help with programming like CEO In The Classroom and their high School REACH initiative.

Winona Workforce Development Board – PlastiCert management served on the Winona Workforce Development Board for 15 years. The last 10 on the executive board and the last 5 of those as Chair. The WDB is part of a nationwide workforce development system created by national and state legislation. As mandated under federal law, the governance, delivery infrastructure, and financial responsibilities of the WDA are organized at the direction of local elected officials, with workforce boards serving as the focal point for leadership and accountability.

Lewiston-Altura School District – We have volunteered and donated funds to numerous projects, initiative, and classroom activities. Every 9th Grade Careers Exploration Class for many years has toured PlastiCert and talked about careers in manufacturing. PlastiCert’s Cory Schmitz has been the varsity baseball coach for 20+ years providing opportunities and the ability to develop skillsets to high school students.A PlastiCert representative sits on the Systems Accountability Committee, where the school system’s curriculum is reviewed, updated and implemented.

Winona State University – PlastiCert sits on the Industry Advisory Board for the Composites Materials Engineering Program,  we are also active participants in programming in the School of Business.

Winona Area Composites Consortium – PlastiCert is an active member of this industry group that meets and collaborates on composite technology. They are an active sponsor of the annual CME Scholarship Golf Tournament

City of Winona – PlastiCert had an active role in Winona’s evolution having a seat on the Planning & Zoning Commission for 15 years.

City of Lewiston – PlastiCert is an active and supportive member of the community in which we are headquartered. Aside for participating in the city’s growth and evolution, PlastiCert has donated significant funds to city parks and infrastructure to improve the lives of all Lewiston residents.

Fools Five Road Race – PlastiCert is an ardent supporter of this cancer research non-profit. From coworkers volunteering to plan and execute the race to donating and supporting to the benefit auction event held the evening prior.

Heartland Days – Heartland Days is the annual celebration of the Lewiston residents being at the geographical center of Winona County and major hub for accessing all parts of the county. PlastiCert coworkers participate in Heartland Days in a myriad of ways helping assure that a good time is had by all.

USA Swimming – PlastiCert’s Owner is a register swimming & diving official donating hundreds of hours to youth swimming across the Midwest.

MSHSL Swimming & Diving – PlastiCert’s Owner is a register swimming & diving official working high school meets at the local, Section, and State Championship level.

Lewiston Youth Baseball – PlastiCert’s Cory Schmitz is a long time baseball coach teaching fundamental to the local area children.

Lewiston Fire and EMS – PlastiCert is a long time supporter of the EMS and Fire Groups,  providing funds, support and training opportunities. PlastiCert appreciates the two departments’ dedication to service and community in keeping residents and coworkers safe.

Winona Symphony Orchestra – PlastiCert is a long-time supporter of the WSO.   It is recognized as the oldest arts organization in Southeastern Minnesota, the Winona Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1908.  Since then, the WSO continues its legacy of promoting an appreciation for classical music among children with live, free performances every season. The WSO offers 3 concerts each season, including two regular season concerts and the Children’s Concert.

Great River Shakespeare Festival – PlastiCert is an annual supporter of the GRSF. The GRSF is a nonprofit, professional Equity theater company in Winona, MN. The mission of the Great River Shakespeare Festival is to enrich people’s lives by creating dynamic clearly understood productions of Shakespeare and other playwrights who celebrate the spoken word.

Winona County Historical Society – PlastiCert is a financial supporter of the WCHS and their programming, including a recent donation toward their Rural Heritage Museum and restoration work on the Gainey-McCarthy Schoolhouse. The Winona area has a rich history being one of the first Minnesota settlements and commercial centers after Minneapolis/St. Paul. The Mississippi River provided a means to transport grains harvested from as far away as Rochester Minnesota.
