Marketing – For coworkers

Traditionally, manufacturers utilized marketing efforts toward finding new customers. In today’s business environment, marketing tactics are playing a role in finding new and replacement staff to help a company achieve its growth plans.

For hundreds of years, the Help Wanted sign has been the standard for finding coworkers when business increases. In time, to increase exposure, the help wanted ad in a printed publication came into existence.

Ads, started not just providing notification of available employment, but first the first means of touting the benefits of picking one firm over another. That system still exists today, but companies, this one included, have taken to not just advertising, but marketing themselves, trying to draw attention and elicit a response, not to buy, but for employment.

The same tactics that we gear at potential customers, actively touting your advantages and offerings, we now employ to find workers.

Our latest is the personal endorsement and referral. We are actively asking our coworkers if they have friends who may be looking for better work or a better environment, more opportunity etc. We ask them to endorse their experience here and use it to entice potential coworkers to find out more about us.

That also means you have to walk the talk as well. Your coworkers have to believe what they are saying and you have to have the results to show, like workplace awards for flexibility and workplace excellence.

That is what we are doing, what things have you tried to address your worker shortfall?
