OMG Not AGAIN!!

Another threat of huge tariffs on Chinese imports. PlastiCert is quite glad that we are a domestic manufacturer only. We mold all our parts AND make all our molds here in the USA. Our long time customers are quite glad of it as well.

The parts we manufacture are really too complex to source offshore. We also specialize in low and medium volumes that offshore does not accommodate well!

Large fluid flow portal with 8 shutoffs                                    Engineered composite with 42 inserts embedded             Two composite overmold for strength AND chem resistance

They include overmolding and insert molding that requires process and equipment control you do not find offshore! They are also too large and expensive to ship from offshore,, as well as the lag in inventory arrival to facilitate customer demand!

A few OEMs have tried, but they end up with quality and delivery issues. There are also resin issues where the engineered resins the customer called for were going to be substituted without the OEM’s knowledge. We know because the resin manufacturer assured us that specified resin is not even available in that region.

Sourcing molds in China has always been risky business. Having a presence or “trusted” representation in China has always been key. Yet, just as in domestic sources, relationships waver over time, and trust can be tested. Simple parts and simple molds may be an option, but complex parts where issues of warp and twist come into play. Where tight dimensions are required for shut offs and interconnection with mating parts require precision and design optimization may require closer scrutiny.

Lastly, the whole issue of intellectual property, or IP. The more complex the part, the more critical the application and end product. Copying your part design can be integral to duplicating your product and its function.

Tired of not knowing where the playing field stands? Reacting to the latest quote coming from out of the blue that threatens your bottom line?

Give PlastiCert a call. We manufacture in the US AND we design and build our molds in the US as well. Our customers always know what their molds are going to cost, that they will produce good parts and will be under their control.
