Caring, the mark of a quality oriented organization
There was a day when my responsibilities included assessing suppliers and their ability to provide us components and assemblies we needed to make our end product. Individually or in a team, we would go out and assess their technology, their quality systems, their operational performance, all geared around making whatever it was we needed.
While it was not on a checklist or listed criteria provided by management, I always tried to assess a company’s character. Coworker interaction, worker attitude, even the sticky notes, cartoons, quotes, and sayings that people put up in and around their work area. Notices in their cafeteria or break areas tell a lot as well.
They say Quality is not a destination, it is a journey. Well, that journey can be a pleasure trip, or it can be a mundane, drudgery filled trek, that feels like it is going nowhere.
That was the sentiment I was trying to discover or observe when touring a facility. In addition to determining if they can technically do what they say they can.
It is also something we have been conscious of here at PlastiCert.
I have heard the term “family” used numerous times in discussions around our building. Also, at our recent Winter Company Outing where we had dinner and fun at the local golf course. We spent the evening talking and enjoying each other’s company in a different environment than the work floor.
In the interests of family members looking out for each other, this month we recognized American Heart Month by introducing a new benefit. Our new WELNESS GRANT POLICY will reimburse a coworker up to $200 per year for investing in their health. A qualifying purchase is something that is used for a coworker’s health and wellness. Examples include gym membership, exercise equipment, fitness tracker, sports equipment, rollerblades, walking shoes, state park passes, etc.
We have never had a bad tour here at PlastiCert. Our people love visitors, like to show what they are doing that day, and emphasize that what we do matters, in helping our customers meet their goals.
Come see for yourself. See why our customer tenure is very high, but why the couple that have left over the last 20 years, soon had their molds sent back here.
