This week was Awards night at the local high school. Seniors were awarded certificates and medals for their achieving National Honor Society and various grade point average milestones.

Also on the agenda was the awarding of college scholarships by assorted groups, organizations, and companies to deserving seniors.

PlastiCert participated again, offering up two different scholarships seniors could apply for. There were 51 total scholarships offered with $41K in value. That means PlastiCert offered 4% of the number of scholarships but 7.5% of the money gifted.

The first PlastiCert scholarship is named in honor of our company’s founder Howard Ysteboe. Howard was quite a talented engineer and so we offer $2,000 to a senior going into engineering (primary) or one of technical sciences (secondary). We also offer a $1,000 scholarship that represents all our coworkers but named in honor of two coworkers that succumbed to cancer. This scholarship is offered to a senior going into the medical or social services field, both areas that were critical during cancer treatment.

The Founder’s Engineering/Sciences Scholarship for a future sciences student was awarded to an amazing young woman that has excelled throughout her time at L-A HS. She Is a math academic, but active in three sports, band, choir, student council, and a member of the National Honor Society. She volunteers around the community when there is time. She will be attending a local university and working on a double major in Mathematics and Statistics.

I was then able to award our J&N Memorial Scholarship to a very bright young lady that has chosen kinesiology as her field. Also, a National Honor Society member, she is a two sport athlete but focuses on Volleyball. She has been a team captain for two years and is a leader on and off the court volunteering in school and around the community. She also plans to minor in coaching with hopes of staying involved in her favorite sport. She will be attending an in-state private college and joining a perennially nationally ranked volleyball team.

PlastiCert is honored to provide these two young individuals with financial assistance toward fulfilling their career dreams wherever they may lead them.
