Lewiston, MN September 27, 2016 – PlastiCert, a 35 year veteran of innovative and quality plastic injection molding design and manufacturing services, announced the release of a paid maternity leave policy.

In order to assist and support new parent relationships through its leave policies and programs and to assist with balancing work and family matters, PlastiCert now provides Parental Leave. The policy provides eligible employees with a period of either unpaid or paid, depending on eligibility, time off for activities related to the pregnancy period and/or care and well-being of their newborn or adopted child.

The policy, which has already been placed into effect, offers up to 12 consecutive weeks of unpaid parental leave to an eligible parent during pregnancy and/or following the birth or adoption of a child. Running concurrently, PlastiCert will provide up to six consecutive weeks of 100% paid parental leave to the eligible parent serving as the primary caregiver during pregnancy and/or following the birth or adoption of a child.

Craig Porter, President & Owner of PlastiCert remarked, “As a past two time winner of the When Work Works Award for Workplace Flexibility and Effectiveness, we continue to look for how we can operate within a win-win scenario between company and coworkers. An underlying theme of workplace flexibility is the recognition that life has increased in complexity. Dual income as well as increased single income families, school loan debt, and increased caregiving of elder family members has stretched the parent rearing family budget and time constraints. Paid parental leave provides time off for parents to truly bond with their new child. We feel it is important for new parents to take time off. When they return to work, we anticipate that they will be refreshed better prepared for it. Achieving workplace flexibility in a manufacturing firm was ground breaking. We felt this was the next step to take. It’s not just a good thing to do, it’s the right thing to do.”

PlastiCert was founded in 1981 and is a privately held corporation with headquarters and manufacturing in Lewiston Minnesota.
