“PlastiCert Inc., an injection molder and mold maker in Lewiston, Minn., has won the 2016 When Work Works Award at the Winona Area Chamber of Commerce annual Business Appreciation Awards Banquet. The award recognizes excellence in workplace effectiveness and flexibility.

The company also won a When Work Works award in 2014, said Craig Porter, PlastiCert’s president and owner. “We still learned a great deal about ourselves and implemented additional improvements based on the national results we were provided,” he said. “We were confident the improvements we made would help keep us at the forefront of progressive companies.”

Porter said PlastiCert’s employees are the key to the success of the company. “Recognizing that their focus can shift between work and home, and being able to help them navigate that, makes the organization all the more resilient and effective.”

PlastiCert, celebrating 35 years of innovative and quality plastic injection molding design and manufacturing services, is honored to be awarded the 2016 When Work Works Award for Excellence in Workplace Effectiveness and Flexibility at the Winona Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Business Appreciation Awards Banquet.

“PlastiCert is honored to have been selected again. Winning our first When Work Works award in 2014, we still learned a great deal about ourselves and implemented additional improvements based on the national results we were provided,” remarked Craig Porter, President and Owner of PlastiCert. “We were confident the improvements we made would help keep us at the forefront of progressive companies. Our co-workers are the key to making us a great manufacturing service organization. Recognizing that their focus can shift between work and home, and being able to help them navigate that, makes the organization all the more resilient and effective.”

Presented by The Families and Work Institute and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the 2016 When Work Works Award recognizes 351 employers across the United States. PlastiCert has distinguished itself as a leading employer of choice by demonstrating success in using flexibility as part of an effective workplace strategy to achieve business goals and benefit employees by helping them meet their responsibilities on and off the job.

The award is the result of a rigorous assessment. PlastiCert needed to first qualify by ranking in the top 20 percent of the country based on a nationally representative sample of employers. Two-thirds of the evaluation of applicants comes from a confidential employee survey. Applicants are evaluated on six research-based ingredients of an effective workplace. They are: opportunities for learning; a culture of trust; work/life fit; supervisor support for work success; autonomy; and satisfaction with earnings, benefits and opportunities for advancement — all factors associated with employee health, well-being and engagement.
