Lewiston, MN April 6, 2015 – PlastiCert, a 34 year veteran of innovative and quality plastic injection molding design and manufacturing services and 2013 When Work Works Award winner, reports it’s President and Owner has been invited to participate in a panel discussion at the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) Annual Conference and Exposition.

Craig W. Porter, PlastiCert’s President and Owner, after discussions with representatives of the Families and Work Institute (FWI), was notified they selected him as a When Work Works Award winner panelist at the Pre-Conference Workshop at SHRM Annual on June 28. The Session Topic: Can Flexibility Work in Manufacturing? – Reports from the Frontline, will be moderated by Dr. Kenneth Matos, the Senior Director at the FWI. Joining Porter on the panel will be fellow selectees from USG Corporation and American Sensor Technologies, Inc.

PlastiCert is one of the companies featured in the recently released free guide, Workflex and Manufacturing Guide: More Than a Dream, your go-to resource to answer the question of how do you support the work life needs of production employees. Yes, work-life fit and flexible work is possible in manufacturing settings. The Guide includes real examples straight from factory floors, providing insights on how to make workflex a reality. Remote work and individualized scheduling are not generally possible in manufacturing (especially for those organizations that use assembly lines). That’s why this Guide explores an array of options and flexible shift arrangements that make sense for production jobs – everything from shift swapping to alternative shift arrangements to giving employees input into break arrangements.

About Families and Work Institute

Families and Work Institute (FWI) is a nonprofit research-to-action institute dedicated to providing research for living in today’s changing workplace, changing family and changing community. Since the Institute was founded in 1989, our work has addressed issues in three major areas: the workforce/workplace, youth and early childhood. Families and Work Institute’s research takes on emerging issues before they crest and includes some of the most comprehensive research on the U.S. workforce available. The Institute’s work has helped change the language of debates to move the discussion forward toward more effective and data-driven solutions and to result in action. In addition, because the Institute conducts some of the only research studies of their kind, our studies are quoted in the media more than once a day and are regularly cited by decision makers in business, government, and the public.
