Lewiston, MN December 19, 2012 – PlastiCert, a 31 year veteran of innovative and quality plastic injection molding design and manufacturing services, joins the advisory board for the Lewiston-Altura High School Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Program.

PlastiCert President and Owner Craig Porter was asked and accepted to join the advisory board for LAHS’s PLTW program. Immediately he attended the kick-off meetings and attended the certification meeting with the PLTW State Representative.

Project Lead The Way is the leading provider of rigorous and innovative Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education curricular programs used in middle and high schools across the U.S. “Adding it into the curriculum at Lewiston-Altura High School is a great opportunity for their students”, commented Porter. “Joel Ellinghuysen, the Industrial Technology Instructor has invested a great deal in bringing this opportunity to area students. To help him execute this plan is both a privilege and an honor”.

PLTW engages students in activities-, projects-, and problem-based (APPB) learning, which provides hands-on classroom experiences. Students create, design, build, discover, collaborate and solve problems while applying what they learn in math and science. They’re also exposed to STEM fields through professionals from local industries who supplement the real-world aspect of the curriculum through mentorships and workplace experiences. The hands-on, project-based engineering courses for high schools and middle schools and biomedical sciences courses for high schools engage students on multiple levels, expose them to areas of study that they typically do not pursue, and provide them with a foundation and proven path to college and career success.
