PlastiCert President and Owner Craig Porter returns from swimming and diving championships
Lewiston, MN November 21, 2013 – PlastiCert, a 33 year veteran of innovative and quality plastic injection molding design and manufacturing services, celebrates amateur athleticism, and encourages staff to embrace that part of our mission statement that calls for “a recognized responsibility to the community around us”.
Craig W. Porter, PlastiCert’s President and Owner returned from three days off where he was officiating stroke and turn at the Minnesota State High School Girl’s Swimming & Diving Championships.
From November 12 – 14 Porter was at the University of MN to participate in officiating 3 days at the 2014 MSHSL Girl’s Swimming & Diving Championships. “Being a part of high school and collegiate diving was influential in becoming who I am,” remarked Porter. “I enjoy giving back to the sport that helped me, as well as take the opportunity to remove myself from the plant. Officiating at this level helps to re-energize me. The competition is so stimulating and definitely takes my mind off the trappings of the plant and office. When I return to the plant, I feel reinvigorated and ready to tackle revisiting the medium and long term planning.” This year’s meet featured 654 athletes representing 103 teams, 344 athletes on 54 teams in Class A and 310 athletes on 49 teams in Class AA. The high school championships saw 9 new state records, 7 of which were all time state records (the fastest considering both AA and A class high schools). In addition, over 30 swimmers and relays swam automatic All-American qualifying times and one 7th grader swam three times that qualified as USA Swimming National Age Group records.
Before leaving the Twin Cities, Porter attended a diving competition at St. Catherine’s University. An invitational contest between Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) schools, “anytime I can take in some diving, even as a spectator, I like to take advantage,” remarked Porter. “I knew a competitor and coach from a local high school, and college diving includes the 3 meter board competition. What’s not to like?”
