The latest CNBC America’s Top States for Business 2025 rankings are out, and Minnesota is once again in the top 10.
In spite of being hit hard for our cost of doing business (34). The quality of life (4), infrastructure (5), and technology/innovation (14), put us in a position to shine.
Our quality of life number puts us in the realm of Vermont (1) and Maine (2). Rather good company when you think of getaway spots yet they came in 38th and 43rd respectively in the overall business ranking. Minnesota has quality AND the business needs covered as well!
Our workforce ranking (30) was a drag, but that number is the result of a high demand local economy. Minnesota’s labor force participation rate has remained steady at 68.2%, which is significantly higher than the national rate of 62.4%. Our unemployment rate (3.3%) is always a percent or more lower than the national average (4.4%). We have great people and know how to use them. Minnesota’s per capita income is about 3.5% higher* than the national average and they are worth it!
These are all reasons why seventeen Fortune 500 Companies have their HQ in Minnesota. The Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area is a leader, ranking second among the 30 largest US metros in Fortune 500 headquarters per capita.
