PlastiCert was notified by Plastics Technology Magazine and Gardner Intelligence that we have been named a PT Injection Molding TOP SHOP for the fourth year in a row.

TOP SHOP 2023 is the Plastics Technology Top Shops Benchmarking Report for injection molders. In responding to the survey we can use the data to identify our facility’s strengths, weaknesses and opportunities across a wide range of metrics. The report shows where our operation ranks among survey participants and whether a given metric is a Strength (top 25% of all responses); On Track (falling between the 25th and 75th percentiles); or an Opportunity for improvement (bottom 25% of responses).

In addition to showing how our facility ranks in terms of operational areas like capacity utilization, lead time and on-time delivery, the report also characterizes our staff (age, pay and training), as well as our equipment (size and age, usage, new investment) and the broader injection molding sector (end markets, captive vs. custom, total parts molded, active tools and customers).

In terms of business strategies, you can see how Top Shops in injection molding approaches supply chain practices, human resources, marketing, continuous improvement tactics and more. From a technology standpoint, you can see what specialty injection molding systems, secondary processes and value-added services sector we and the other companies deploy.

Being named a TOP SHOP in North America is a huge achievement. Being named four times consecutively is really something. With each year, the competition gets tougher as more companies recognize the value of taking the survey and being assessed. Because it is an assessment against the other entrants and not some standard, the more capable companies that participate, the higher the bar goes.

Our PlastiCert team believes in our mission of being an injection molding resource to our customers. Not just supplying molds, components, and value-added assembly, but being there to make them look good in their position. They may have suppliers that management tells them to fix. That require some extra effort and hand-holding, but PlastiCert is not one of them.

A PT issue will come out in a few months highlighting the winners and the process, so more to come at that point. In the mean time we will be ordering a FOURTH Top SHOP banner to go with our prior three for all our coworkers to celebrate, and our visitors to take note of.

Is your injection molder a TOP SHOP? Are they on your radar for the wrong reasons? Are they getting you unwanted attention in status meetings? If they are an issue, give us a call. You deserve a break, and one less concern off your plate.
