Santa Claus is coming to town
During the holidays you can find him in many places. If you are lucky enough to be in a town along the Canadian Pacific Railway line, you get to see him and his decorated train come through town and maybe even stop and entertain you a little bit. The U.S. Holiday Train embarks on its three-week journey on November 25 from Kahnawake, Quebec, then travels through the Northeast and Midwest U.S. before finishing up in Weyburn, Saskatchewan on December 19.
Here in nearby Winona, Wednesday December 11, the Holiday Train will pull into the Amtrak Station at 5:15 PM and put on a show. Entertainers on the U.S. train include The Claytones, Roxanne Potvin, Canadian Country Music Hall of Famer Tracey Brown, and Willy Porter. The Train is decked out in decorations from front to back, lit up as she motors along as well as while in station performing. One of the “boxcars” opens up to make a performing stage for the entertains that are on board.
Make sure to bring a food bank donation. The Holiday Train is all about promoting Hunger Awareness. Whether it costs you a can of non-perishable food or multiple bags of food, diapers and personal hygiene products, bring what you can afford to ensure your local food bank can support your community year-round.
Get ready to see the big guy is all his glory. Santa is on the train and makes sure it is worth coming out to take in the show and help feed those in need.
