Update on PlastiCert Philanthropy work – Donation to local playground restoration
Lewiston, MN July 23, 2019 – PlastiCert, a veteran of innovative and quality plastic injection molding design and manufacturing services for nearly 40 years, reports it’s matching donation to the city of Lewiston to help restore one of its playgrounds has been realized.
Last fall, when learning of a playground being closed after failing a safety inspection PlastiCert issued a matching donation of $11,000 to help achieve its restoration. The city had obtained a quotation to upgrade the questioned equipment and fall protection area in the amount of $58,461.62. These were expenditures that had not been budgeted by the city. A local Foundation had offered up $36,000 for new equipment if the city could raise the remaining $22,000 for the fall protection ground material. With a fund drive started, PlastiCert announced they would match any donations made, up to half of the needed $22,000.
Come spring the playground equipment was installed, but weather delays and labor shortages prevented the ground and fall protection work from happening. These item were completed by early July.

“We’re gratified that the playground has finally been reopened to city youth,” commented Craig Porter, PlastiCert President & Owner. “At a Chamber meeting last fall the situation was brought to our attention. My first thought was of neighborhood kids staring through the protective barrier at their playground and I just reacted with our offer right there. As I said at the time, when I bought the company and rewrote our mission statement, I included that PlastiCert recognizes a commitment to the community. A business is not an island, we have a mutually beneficial symbiotic relationship between the company, our coworkers and the community around us.”
