Who doesn’t love Pi? Especially in Minnesota!!!
This week, we are celebrating Pi Day as well as millions of other geeks. We are also celebrating our Minnesota incorporation and winning more new business (see below).
As engineers, we appreciate the mathematical quirkiness of Pi, for any number of reasons.
As engineering students, we had to take an inordinate amount of math classes, enough to obtain a Math Minor in some cases,
As engineers, to know that there is one problem, the ratio of a circle’s diameter to its circumference, that CANNOT EVER be solved, is quite under appreciated.
Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th (3/14) around the world. Pi (Greek letter “π”) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159. (I’ve remembered Pi is 3.14159 for as long as I can remember taking math, which goes way back into elementary school days).
Pi Day is an annual opportunity for math enthusiasts to recite the infinite digits of Pi, talk to their friends about math, celebrate math and science celebrities like Albert Einstein, and of course, eat pie.
So, March 14th we are bringing in pie for everyone at PlastiCert.
Celebrating things is part of being a cohesive team. There is always something to celebrate.
Celebrating Pi Day over at your place of employment or supplier? If not, maybe you should think about joining us at PlastiCert. As a coworker or a supply customer, you can stop by for any of our celebrations!

Speaking of, this is also the sixth anniversary of PlastiCert transferring its incorporation from Pennsylvania to Minnesota. Unlike billionaires throwing a hissy fit over how they were treated, PlastiCert changed states of incorporation because we had no physical tie to our former state and wanted to change to a state that we call home. We feel immense pride being Minnesotan as well as sharing many of the values reflected by our state in its actions. A state where people matter. The term “Family” goes beyond your immediate blood relatives, and we all look out for and help one another. Where doing business is not about making as much money as we can but being profitable while also being of service to our customers, our coworkers, and our community . We are also proud of lefse, wild rice soup and of course, Bloedow’s pastries!

Lastly, we just won some new business from an existing customer. It was formerly a competitor’s new business, but they did not have the technical skill to deliver. We recognize that many customers prefer to be dual sourced as a matter of sound business. All we ask is that you talk to us first about new projects. We will be honest with you as to whether the project belongs at PlastiCert, or if anyone could do it. We want to be your injection molding expert, as well as save you time and money in the long run. Many of our customers have realized that and use us like another of their in-house engineering resources. As you see, there are a lot of things going for us here at PlastiCert.
