Our continuing ode to Dr. W. Edwards Deming and his book titled “Out of the Crisis” summarizing his famous 14-point management philosophy.
Deming Point # 10 – Get rid of unclear slogans
Always be clear in communications about what you want. Saying “Excellence in Service” sounds nice but can be arbitrary to the reader.
Even with a clear tag line or motto, do not let words and nice-sounding phrases replace effective leadership. Outline your expectations, and then praise people face-to-face for doing good work.
