St. Mary’s is running their annual ski outing/race, this weekend.
We are Minnesotan’s; we get out and embrace the winter.
I see many reports from the recent cold snaps, locales that do not see it as frequently as we do here in MN. Most are hiding, we just accommodate through layers and activities.
One such activity is cross-country skiing. The area around PlastiCert is some of the most beautiful in all of Minnesota AND it has been incorporated into our cross-country skiing. St. Mary’s University and area residents in Winona have created a cross-country skiing venue that is a must on any dedicated skier’s list of destinations.
St. Mary’s is running their annual outing/race again, this weekend. This year’s SMU 10K cross-country ski races will be held on Sunday, Jan. 26, at Saint Mary’s University.
The public is invited to classic-style citizens’ ski event at 11 a.m.; the skate race will begin at 1 p.m.
Participants can register in competitive or recreational classes.
Both races wind through the beautiful and challenging bluffs and valleys surrounding the Saint Mary’s campus. The cost to participate is $10 for one race or $20 for both races.
Registration, the starting line and the finish line will be near Saint Yon’s Hall, located on the back east portion of campus.
